Athlete, Coach, Both?

Is both even a possibility?

I have heard in from alot of different CrossFit athletes that you can either be a great CrossFit coach OR a great CrossFit competitor. Every time I hear this I always tell myself, "Well, I want to be both!" I definitely understand the logic behind being a full time gym owner and coach and what it takes to accomplish all you want to accomplish. Luckily, I don't have to tackle it on my own. I have a fabulous business partner who is extremely motivated to not fail and be the best. Oh yeah, she is also my girlfriend and the love of my life. However, it is still a full time job to run a business and focus on becoming a better CrossFit athlete. It's tough to juggle teaching classes, training 1-on-1 session, preparing food, diet consulting, and then finding time to train myself. Ok, so awesome, I found an hour to train, but now I have to make sure I am mentally ready to train because without that piece, a workout is just a workout. I need workouts that make me better!

without prior labeling, I am now focusing on the athletes of CrossFit Round Rock and making them the best they can be and I am happy with this. I'm ok with training myself when I have time to and not making it my first priority.

Now, what does this mean?

It means my workouts will happen when they happen and if I don't set a new PR every time I do a WOD, then I will be fine with that. I have had to teach myself that the workout I put forth today will not be the workout I put forth yesterday. Confused?? Think of it like a MLB pitcher. Sometime he has his stuff and nobody can touch him. Other times, he shows up throws the ball and gets rocked. This doesn't mean he has gotten worse at all. It just means that you have good days and bad days and CrossFit WODs are no different.
