So I get asked this all the time. At least a day and sometimes multiple times daily. And I respond without the simplest way I know how which is," I don't." As smart-ass as it may be, its honestly the truth. When you eat a certain way all of the time, it's called a lifestyle. Now, I know what people mean when they ask and that is they want to know what I eat so I tell them. I eat protein, fruits, vegetables and a ton of fat. Yep. FAT. And when I say a ton, i mean it. Somewhere in excess of 175 grams a day. Some days more, some less. But either way, it's a lot of fat.
Now, is this what you should do? Maybe. But this is what works for me. I am training for muscle gain and performance improvement. If i gain weight during this process then so what. As long as I am getting stronger and faster then It doesn't matter to me. If i gain weight and don't improve on these two areas of fitness then I am not doing something right. Your "diet" should reflect what your goals are and be geared around what you are trying to achieve.
I follow the zone diet. It's all about portion control and eating the right quantity of food. I pair this with paleo diet. The paleo diet mimics a hunter-gatherer diet in which the foods are combinations of lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Then, i take these paleo foods and cross-reference them with the zone portions. In other words, what quantity the zone says i should have. Sounds confusing but is rather quiet simple and definitely works.
Check out www.thepaleodiet.com and for questions about the zone feel free to email me directly as it can be somewhat confusing but in turn is very simple once it makes sense. landon.crossfitroundrocktx@yahoo.com
