The first pair are the Inov-8 230's. These are what ill refer to as the "old faithfuls." These have been my go to CrossFit shoes for the last 3 years. I used them for everything from olympic lifting to endurance wods but now, they've taken a backseat to a few others.
The next pair I use are Nike Romaleo weight lifting shoes. This shoe is designed to provide stability and balance for performing heavy lifts. These are best utilized in workouts that include olympic (ex. Snatch, clean and jerk), powerlifting( backsquat, deadlift) or any movement that would challenge someone's balance and stability like the pistol squat. This shoe is somewhat versatile in that you can actually do a lot of metcon wods in them. As far as running goes, I wouldn't do more than about 200 meters in them during a wod. These are the only OLY shoes I've ever owned so I can't speak for the Reeboks however plenty of friends and members have told me how good they are.
When I switched from the Inov-8 to the New Balance minimus road shoe, I was skeptical as to how it the transition would be. It was smoother than a baby's butt. These shoes are fantastic and actually more comfortable to me than the Inov-8's. A great all around CrossFit shoe!!
Finally, the Reebok Nano 2.0. I've only been wearing these for about 2 weeks and honestly, I would sleep in them. They are that comfortable! The have an extremely minimal heel to toe drop and provide enough support and cushion to run longer distances in such as one milers and 5k's! I've used them for pistols, snatch, deadlifts, back, front and overhead squats, cleans and lifting overhead. I would say its the most versatile CrossFit shoe I own with standards ranging from comfort to functionality. Boom!!
So when deciding on shoes to CrossFit in, consider what you do most. The oly shoe is very specific to Olympic lifting would never function as my ONLY CrossFit shoe. The other 3 mentioned above are all impressive and can be considered. My ranking system would be as follows:
1-Reebok Nano
2-New Balance Minimus
3-Inov-8 230
Hope this helps some of you out!
I got these shoes and I use them only for Crossfit.
