The CrossFit Games 2012 season is upon us an kicks into full swing next week with the release of the first Open wod. All of the CFRR coaches are signed up to compete along with about 10-12 CFRR members who are throwing themselves in to compete. We couldn't be more excited that we have quite a bit more competitors this year compared to last year when it was just Mark and I.
So, what's my plan of attack? Last year, we wanted the best possible score we could get and with the rules stating that you can perform the WOD as many times as you want, we did the first few multiple times. Real dumb on our part. Aside from wrecking our bodies every other day, we couldnt continue training and following our normal routine because it was being interrupted by doing the weekly Open wod over and over again. Once you've made the regional level, the slate is wiped clean and where you placed in the top 60 of the Open doesn't matter. So, again, what's my plan??? To score the best I possibly can and only perform the workout once.
This year, CFRR has high hopes to take a team to regionals as well as individual competitors and we definitely have the athletes to make this happen.
My advice to any and all competing would be to train hard and treat the weekly workout as any other. Give it your all and leave it all out there and continue preparing for the regional level. Train hard but more importantly, train smart!
This year will be a great ride and I am ready to make the most of it. Let's do this Team CFRR!
