Tomorrow, athletes from CFRR and all over central Texas will be competing in the Garage Gym Throwdown. This is the 3rd year of the event and we have competed each year so far. Adrien and I competed in the co-ed division the first year and Mark and I won the Male Division last year so CFRR has had some solid show out performances in the previous years.
As the wods have come out, the workout this year is a little heavier and longer than previous years. The weights are heavier and the reps are equally distributed between both partners on the team, whereas the last 2 years the reps could be broken up as needed between the team members.
The movements will def test strength and endurance with a few "fun" elements added in. A 40# sandbag must be carried and never touch the ground during the entire workout. This will most definitely fatigue the athletes more than they think. Arms and cores will be on fire and I cant wait!!!
The movement that could be the difference maker in the competition will be one of two different ones: the double unders or the medicine ball throw which must hit a target. This is an accuracy component and is for sure a test of athleticism. The double under is a technical movement that is all about getting the proper rhythm and being consistent.
Good Luck to all of the athletes competing and we are looking for a great showing from CFRR! Watch out for that podium!!!!
Here's a short instructional video on the double under.....
